One Reason My Depression Got Worse
Black mold
In my previous blog, I mentioned something to the fact that I believed that the house of my now ex-boyfriend's had black mold in it and had a lot to do with my depression and my COPD getting worse over time. I wasn't wrong at the probability of such a thing.
AI overview wrote: "Black mold can make you sick through allergic reactions, irritation, infections, and toxicity, depending on the person's sensitivity and health." I have immune disorders that would make me even more vulnerable, not to mention my age.
Under the section on toxicity, it mentions neurological symptoms. "These can include brain fog (check), memory loss (check), difficulty in concentrating (check), anxiety (through the roof), and depression (extreme to where suicide was considered). Further on, it also mentions fatigue. (which was almost constant in the last year or so.)"
I tried telling the ex, more times than I can remember over the last few years, that there was black mold in the house to which he totally did not believe, refused to believe. Since he never looked while he still had some of his eyesight (he has diabetic neuropathy from diabetes), he certainly can't see it now that he's more than half blind. I saw it however and I should have ran then...but did not.
The point of this is, that if you know or suspect black mold in your home, get it checked out and remedied if possible. If I'd stayed longer, I probably would have died there, one way or another as it was getting worse. The real pack-up-and-leave reason was domestic abuse, and the black mold was secondary.
I'm glad I'm out of there and happy to be in my own 'safe' apartment. No more black mold, no more arguments, no more of many things that were totally not my place to do.
Thanks for stopping by.
Deb
PS: I brought a shelf unit still in its box and when my granddaughter opened the box she found black mold. Ugh.
