Serendipity

We made it through both a bad snow storm and the polar vortex plunging us into negative numbers during the nights especially. Sunday night the temp here with the wind chill was -23°! Burr... The snowfall itself dumped about 12 inches on us, not too bad but still a pain to have to clean up. I took the time to document the storm, from beginning to end. As it began Saturday Jan. 19th, mid afternoon 2 hours later at twilight the next morning... across the road from us The depth of snow on a roof cute little pine tree various depths shows the depth of the snow my favorite tree up the road the wind that came with the storm and after, blew snow onto my window ledge. The upside of Spring's arrival, however fleeting, is that the snow clouds disperse and we start seeing more of the wispy clouds which I love. On this day, I was able to get 3 shots, as the afternoon slid into disk. You can see a sliver of the moon. Contrails...'X'must be the spot! Sun has slowly moved toward setting. While I was out that afternoon, I shot the next two photos: Not sure what these are but there was a patch I found. Not sure what these husks were that were tangled in the bush. The next image I think is rather unique. I was in the kitchen and noticed the lace sheer that covers the kitchen window was creating a shadow on the floor. The sheer has rose-like flowers that spread across the floor. Yesterday afternoon, it suddenly clouded over and got really dark. Sign along the main thoroughfare.  What an exciting town Frankenmuth is! It's very culturally different and there is so much to see. Anyone could spend a whole day there and not seeing or tasting everything. The first thing we saw were horse and carriages taking people up and down the streets. First carriage we saw There were several of these horse and carriages Toward the end of the day, we inquired as to the price of these rides...$45 for 15 minutes. What a shock! We went into (I think) 3 different candy stores. Oh Heavenly chocolate! There were also stores that made taffy...another treat for the tastebuds. Any of these stores give you a sample and it's not hard to fill up on sugary things!  Moving on, we went to a Country Store that sold all manner of things, from candy (by the bulk) to souvenirs and more.
