What Winter? A photo montage of Winter thus far

Image
Beautiful skies...Dec. 20, 2011 While we are constantly being bombarded by both the scientists and the nay-sayers as to whether climate change or global warming is real or not...anyone who is really paying attention, can tell you that the weather patterns are changing. I've been witnessing it for years now, and it's more evident this Winter than ever before. I titled this "What Winter?" for that very reason, as we aren't seeing 'typical' Winter weather here in NY. In fact, we haven't seen more than 2"-3" of snow total yet this season. sanders plowing and sanding...12/9/2011 With this snowfall we have gotten, of course it's a necessity that the roads be plowed and/or sanded/salted. Snow storm...12/23/2011 A nice dusting on the trees looks so pretty... Snow storm...12/23/2011 At least there are still berries on the trees for the birds... Snow storm...12/23/2011 When the snow did...

Unusual November weather

November 29, 2011...taken at 8 a.m. (59°F.) November is usually a month where we, in the Northeastern part of the U.S., see a cooling down of temperatures and would have seen some snowfall by now...even if it didn't stay. However, this year, it's been a lot warmer than usual  and we haven't seen more than a dusting of snow...twice. (I will not complain!) From our 1st snow...barely more than a dusting Our first snow came down fast and hard...then tapered off, leaving a slight coating on the grass as pictured above. By dark, it had all melted. The beginning of our next snow storm 11/17 The next storm dumped a little more snow on us...probably about half an inch that lasted until the next day. Though it's not unusual for it to melt back off...we have in the past seen more than this for snow totals. A white out...you can barely see the traffic on the highway I looked like we were really going to get some snow...it came down hard, literally blow...

Snow comes early in NY

Almost white out as the storm started--10/27 Yesterday was my birthday and what a better surprise (shock!) than to see a snow storm blow in!  And blow in it did!  As it began...all visibility diminished for a while. It didn't take long for it to start building up... snow begins to accumulate on the porch...10/27 It was pretty as it came down... After a couple of hours, I went out and shot these photos... We really didn't get too much more than a dusting, as these next photos show... It stopped snowing around 9 p.m. last night, and got extremely cold. When I got up this morning, it was a very frosty 27 ° F.  Whatever was wet, froze...and what snow there was remained until late this morning. I did get a few shots this morning...showing the frost and snow... Winter is eager to get here, I think...and I for one, though I enjoy the looks of it, dread the cold! A picture perfect shot! Thanks for stopping by!
