Winter Storm January 19 & 20, 2019 (Photos)

We made it through both a bad snow storm and the polar vortex plunging us into negative numbers during the nights especially. Sunday night the temp here with the wind chill was -23°! Burr... The snowfall itself dumped about 12 inches on us, not too bad but still a pain to have to clean up. I took the time to document the storm, from beginning to end. As it began Saturday Jan. 19th, mid afternoon 2 hours later at twilight the next morning... across the road from us The depth of snow on a roof cute little pine tree various depths shows the depth of the snow my favorite tree up the road the wind that came with the storm and after, blew snow onto my window ledge. I live on the second story no less!  Thanks for stopping in! Have a great day! Deb

Rogue Correction Officers within Prisons

Image
Oneida Correctional Facility in Rome was closed by New York State in 2011 There are very few of us that have an idea what really goes on behind the fences and razor wire at correctional facilities. Most of us that do have a fair idea, know that it's not a place we want to be...let alone have a loved one in.  The inmates range in temperment to laid back and just doing their time, others join into gangs, and yet others bully and harass other inmates for any number of reasons including no reason at all. It's certainly a hard job, a dangerous job and a job that takes a certain kind of person to be behind those fences and razor wire dealing with inmates convicted of all kinds of crimes. But this isn't about the COs that are the good guys...this is about the ones that are dirty, and what I choose to call "rogue". These officers likely should be incarcerated...

Fence surround Wende Correctional Facility, Alden, NY As many of you know, my son: Shawn Campbell , is on a Journey to Justice  (the first of many blogs following his journey through the court system) to correct the wrongs that have been done to him...including imprisoning him for a crime he did not commit. However, since he is incarcerated in the meantime, he has asked me to write this blog to help get exposure for two online petitions and to push for prison reform in New York State. The S.A.F.E. [ Safe And Fair Evaluation of Parole Act] Parole Act " would amend New York’s existing parole statute,  Executive Law § 259-i."   As it stands now, inmates that go in front of the parole board may get denied several times, for issues that are out of his/her control...specifically: the Parole board looks at the crime committed; dis-allows any good behavior; the completion of necessary programs needed for their eventual release (if under a life sentence) IF availa...
